A special Hajj passport is issued for this purpose. Shakir Hussain is the CEO and M.A. Khan is the personnel officer. Its head office is in Mumbai. ==History== The first formal meeting of the Haj committee was held in 1927 in Bombay, headed by the then Commissioner of Police Mr. D. Healy. Until 1994 sea route was the major route for traveling to Mecca, from Mumbai. With the increase in air transport in 1995, the sea route was completely replaced by air route.
